Frontend Engineering & Technology (FE&T) is composed of Regional Engineering & Technology (RE&T) teams led by Regional CTOs and Global Functional Leads. This organization is responsible for managing technical front-end activities within regional business units, including areas such as Technical Development Solutions, Sustainable Energy Solutions, Onshore and Offshore Wind Power Plant Solutions and Services.
We are the offshore-dedicated division for the Northern and Central Europe (NCE) region. Our team serves as a vital bridge between the regional business unit and the central Technology and R&D organization, which leads Vestas’ global product development. By aligning customer needs with technical innovation, we ensure offshore solutions are tailored to market demands and support Vestas’ long-term product strategy.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting scoping, technical value engineering, and contracting from an electrical and grid perspective. Providing feedback on Product Strategy and Management for future product improvements
2. Ensuring compliance with customer and TSO requirements in electrical project configurations
3. Responding to customer inquiries, preparing tender clarifications, and managing key technical relationships
Leading risk assessments and owning relevant technical annexes and contract schedules
4. Gathering site/grid data and supporting grid integration studies with R&D experts
5. Assisting execution teams with grid simulations, test protocols, and compliance testing
6. Engaging with customers, TSOs, utilities, and certification bodies, and staying updated on local regulations
Qualifications
As an ideal candidate, you are expected to have:
7. A master’s or a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Power Systems, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
8. Solid understanding of regulatory electrical requirements and grid codes; familiarity with German grid code requirements is beneficial
9. Experience in power system analysis, including steady-state and transient studies (e.g., short circuit, load flow, fault ride-through, and power quality)
10. Proficiency in power system simulation tools such as DIgSILENT, PSCAD, or PSSE
11. Knowledge of HV/MV systems related to offshore wind turbine equipment and offshore power plant electrical infrastructure
12. Familiarity with industrial automation, PLC hardware, SCADA systems, and communication interfaces is beneficial
