Your mission
* You take an active role in the digitalization of our pilot line, helping to make machine data, process parameters, and sensor data structurally capturable.
* Using our IoT stack, you connect devices, configure data streams, and ensure that raw data is transformed into actionable information – from the machine all the way to the dashboard.
* You build and maintain monitoring dashboards in Grafana that do more than just display data – they create real value for our team: clear, meaningful, and in real time.
* You write Python scripts for data analysis, automation, and integration between various system components.
* You document your work and internal processes in a way that ensures your knowledge is sustainably embedded within the team.
Your profile
* You are studying Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Embedded Systems, or a comparable field, and have a genuine passion for IT/OT systems and industrial digitalization.
* You already have hands-on experience with Linux, Docker, or Python – whether from your studies, a side project, or a previous role.
* Terms like MQTT, InfluxDB, Grafana, Node-RED, or OPC-UA are familiar to you – or at least spark your curiosity.
* You have a basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls) and are not afraid to dive into unfamiliar topics.
* You work independently, think in solutions, and want to actively shape things rather than just work through a ticket queue.
* You communicate fluently in German and English, both written and spoken.
* You are available for at least 6 months at 16–20 hours per week and are willing to work on-site at our office in Aachen.
* Bonus: Show us a project that excited you – whether a personal hobby project, thesis, or something from your studies. We are interested in how you approach problems and what drives you.
Why us?
* You take ownership from day one – after an intensive onboarding, you'll build something unique with us and shape outcomes with real impact on results.
* You work on something that truly matters – with your contribution, you strengthen Europe's battery supply chains and make circular economy a reality on an industrial scale.
* You're part of a mission-driven team – in a fast-paced scale-up environment, we live collaboration, because we can only move things forward together.
* You work to the highest standards – we combine the professionalism of leading industry with the innovative power of a top-tier, research-driven technology team.
About us
cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.
Our process
The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.
cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.
