About the Role
We are looking for an inspirational leader and experienced L&H claims or medical underwriting professional to lead the Underwriting & Claims team for Germany, Austria, Central & Eastern Europe and Nordics. In this role you would be responsible for curating, coaching and developing a leadership team to drive success from the creation of the combined Underwriting & Claims functions and achieve the next phase of development of our L&H ambition. The successful candidate will be a vocal, visible and credible champion for the Underwriting & Claims excellence of the Continental Europe business inside Swiss Re and outside in the marketplace.
The role is based in Munich and reports to the Head of L&H Germany. German language skills are essential, native speaker preferred.
Main Activities:
* Deliver underwriting and claims solutions and services to our clients.
* Lead, develop and support a passionate team of claims and underwriting professionals.
* Support the head of Underwriting & Claims to lead the community in the understanding of claims & underwriting hot topics and their impact on Continental European L&H reinsurance business.
* Contribute to the development of and implement the frameworks to provide approval of expert signoffs for underwriting and claims decisions to win and retain profitable and appropriately underwritten business, and meet our claims commitments.
* Ensuring and monitoring underwriting and claims quality and skills in your market.
* Represent Swiss Re at client meetings and in the wider L&H insurance industry.
* Contribute to the development and execute the vision for the future of claims and underwriting, including but not limited to leveraging use of existing and prospective tools and technology.
* Seek opportunities to develop and strengthen client relationships and industry collaborations for technical and product solutions.
* Lead ad-hoc projects and make a difference in L&H Re.

* You are an effective communicator, fluent/native German is an essential, good English is required.
