As a Head of Yacht Operations (m/f/d) at BSM Yachting, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a diverse fleet of yachts. You will ensure seamless coordination between vessel and shore, maintain high operational standards, and provide expert guidance to owners and key stakeholders. This role plays a strategic part in delivering service excellence, driving continuous improvement, and leading a team of specialists to uphold the highest standards in yacht management.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise all aspects of yacht operations for both private and commercial vessels.
* Manage and guide a team of yacht managers, crew managers, compliance specialists, and administrators.
* Oversee daily operational activities, ensuring adherence to safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned yachts, maintaining strong communication with owners and their representatives.
* Supervise certification, class, and insurance requirements across the fleet.
* Ensure effective budget management, cost control, and financial reporting for clients.
* Oversee safety management processes and ensure correct implementation of ISM and related standards.
* Develop and enhance operational processes, systems, and organizational effectiveness.
* Coordinate and support the use of management software tools.
* Drive continuous improvement through research and development of operational tools and methods.
* Support supplier selection, negotiation, and performance oversight.
* Provide reporting and client support as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Senior sea-going experience in a deck officer position on yachts or passenger vessels.
* Proven experience in shore-based yacht management (ideal).
* 10–15 years of overall professional experience.
* Expert-level knowledge of ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, MLC, and STCW.
* Auditing and surveying experience.
* Strong understanding of large yacht technical operations.
* Solid knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control.
* Fluent English communication skills; additional languages are an advantage.
