The United Nations University (UNU) is a global think tank and postgraduate teaching organization within the United Nations System. The work of UNU contributes to solving pressing global problems that are the concern of the United Nations and its Member States.

In addition to its research work, UNU-EHS offers education opportunities at the master’s level and hosts a number of international PhD projects and capacity-development courses on global issues of environmental risks and sustainable development. As an IPCC AR7 Lead Author, the Deputy Director and her team are reviewing and assessing current scientific evidence on services and demands related to climate change mitigation. Under the authority of the Deputy Director, UNU-EHS and the director supervision of the Research Manager - Scientific support to the Deputy Director, the student assistant will be entrusted with the following tasks:
Research & Qualitative Data Analysis Support
Support literature reviews on the state of the art of “Services and Demand” in relation to climate change mitigation;
Prepare thematic summaries and support the identification of key narratives across the research topics;
Contribute to background research for the “Services and Demand” chapter of upcoming IPCC publication, in line with guidance from the Deputy Director;
Support the processing and organization of literature review using an IPCC-designated reference management system;
Contribution to project, institute and UNU mission.
Analyse and plan — seek out and use data from a wide range of sources to understand problems, inform decision-making, propose evidence-based solutions and plan action
Demonstrated experience in qualitative data analysis and literature reviews;
· Proficiency with reference management software (e.g. Excellent command of written English, strong writing and synthesis skills;
· Experience with qualitative data analysis software, preferably MAXQDA or similar, is an asset;
· Fluency in English is required.
