Essential Responsibilities:
1. Lead complex communication projects and campaigns, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
2. Develop and execute advanced communication strategies to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
3. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify communication opportunities and challenges.
4. Implement best practices for communication management and reporting.
5. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in all communication efforts.
6. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to the communications team.
Expected Qualifications:
7. 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

8. Lead and execute all Communications strategy and operations across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
9. Build and deliver strategic narratives and multi-channel communications that support business growth and strengthen PayPal’s brand reputation.
10. Partner with local and global teams to craft earned, owned, and social media strategies that drive engagement and advocacy.
11. Act as the market lead for crisis and issues communications, including reputation management tied to fraud, scams, and operational topics.
12. Advise executives on media engagement, public speaking, and thought leadership opportunities in the market.
13. Manage relationships with external communications consultants and agencies, aligning them with internal priorities and standards.
14. Drive communications measurement and reporting frameworks, ensuring insights guide future strategy.
15. Mentor and support team members to embed best practices and foster career growth within the function.
What you need to bring
16. Deep, hands-on experience leading communications in payments, fintech, or technology.
17. Proven track record managing complex issues, engaging media and shaping brand reputation in dynamic environments.
18. Strong strategic thinking, storytelling skills, and a hands-on approach to execution.
19. Confidence engaging with senior leaders, media, and external partners.
20. Strong German media relationships.
21. Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to translate technical or finance detail into clear public narratives.
Qualifications
22. 12+ years senior experience in PR and communications with a strong record in complex, regulated environments (ideally payments, fintech or commerce).
23. Native-level German and excellent written and spoken English.
24. Documented experience leading crisis communications and regulatory engagement in payments or a similarly regulated industry.
