We are looking for a Portfolio Project Director Mainline Projects (f/m/d) located in Berlin. This position is full-time.
Your role at Alstom - This is what you move with us
Alstom's headquarters for the DACH region is located at Ernst-Reuter-Platz 6 in the heart of Berlin. Up to 500 colleagues from over 40 countries work together here. In addition to project management, business development and strategy for the region, the main focus at the site is on the digitalisation of rail. In this role, you will report to Falk Mehdorn, VP RSC Project & Development Mainline and work in a motivated and committed team.
Your responsibilities will be:
Project QCDP performance and Project Financial performance (Margin & Cash)
* As owner of the Project Management Work Package (WP), the Project Director is QCDP accountable for all the activities of his/her WP.
Project governance, Project strategy in line with contract requirements, including PMP elaboration and objectives allocation to Sub-Systems (planning, cost, quality, performance)
Leading and coordinating project activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out including:
* Proper transfer from tender to project
* Definition of Project objectives and main drivers (product/service performance, planning) to achieve customer satisfaction in the frame of the Contract
* Resources management:
* Defining in advance project core team staffing, as well as his/her WP resources
* Escalating when project resources available do not match the project needs
* Team leading, including Core Team and when applicable Project Managers of internal and external partners:
* Making sure that key project stakeholders are aligned towards project/ goals.
* Engaging project teams in the successful achievement of project objectives and strengthen relationships among them
* Synchronizing internal partners and arbitrating when necessary
* Alignment with contractual requirements and management of variation orders. Arbitration of Q, C, D, P re-baselining and change management at project level. Manage claim and litigations if needed
* Proactive risk, saving and opportunity management
* Management of the project progress and its KPIs, reporting to senior management, with transparency during the business/critical project reviews.
* Ensuring compliance with applicable rules, instructions and standards: Code of Ethics & Compliance, EHS, Railway Safety, Quality, Project Management Manual
Managing customer and external stakeholders’ relationship
* Continuously ensuring alignment with customer contractual requirements
* Ensuring contract management and variation orders towards customer
Your profile should be:
Successfully completed studies in a technical field and several years of professional experience in the railway industry
- Ideally, you have specialist knowledge of all common signalling technology terms for local and long-distance traffic or have experience in similar sectors (mechanical and plant engineering, wind energy and aircraft industry)
- Several years of experience in project management and planning - Strong technical understanding, good knowledge of contract management
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and good orientation skills in foreign cultures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Persuasiveness and a confident demeanour in an international environment
- Strong decision-making skills, strategic thinking and commitment
- Business fluent in German and English
