You will lead the Direct Marketing team, responsible for the strategic planning and impactful execution of commercially-driven CRM campaigns across Zalando’s diverse country clusters. Your core mission is to translate the commercial calendar and trading priorities into highly effective customer messaging that drives revenue and engagement.

In this role, you will forge close partnerships with the General Managers and trading teams within each country cluster. You will also partner closely with our Audience Management team, providing the operational expertise to execute their lifecycle strategies flawlessly through our marketing platform, Braze. You will steer your team to deliver all campaigns through Braze, which is tightly integrated with our internal content and technology applications.

As a key leader in the CRM organization, you will work with your peers across Product, Analytics, and Engineering to build scalable, data-driven operations and enhance our technical capabilities. As the primary owner of commercial campaign delivery and performance, you will be instrumental in strengthening customer relationships and fueling Zalando’s growth.

Commercial Acumen: You possess a strong understanding of business performance and can translate campaign results and trading conditions into actionable insights that drive revenue and customer growth. You strategically prioritize activities that maximize return on investment and deliver measurable commercial impact.

Collaborative Leadership: You inspire, coach, and develop your team of managers and specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and psychological safety. Crucially, you are a team player who builds a positive team atmosphere and works constructively with your peer leaders to break down silos and achieve shared goals.

Stakeholder Partnership: You excel at building strong, collaborative relationships and aligning goals with senior stakeholders, particularly with the General Managers of our country clusters and their commercial teams. You are a natural collaborator who navigates our matrixed organization with ease, effectively communicating with and influencing partners and peers across all functions.

Scalable Operations & Continuous Improvement: Your expertise lies in designing and managing efficient, scalable processes for large-scale campaign execution in Braze. You champion a culture of continuous improvement, relentlessly seeking opportunities to reduce error rates, decrease time-to-market, and boost efficiency through automation and advanced tooling.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Proven experience in CRM and campaign management, with a focus on executing commercially-driven campaigns in an e-commerce or fast-paced tech environment.

Proven leadership in building, scaling, and developing high-performing CRM teams and operations across international markets.

A natural collaborator with a track record of fostering a positive team environment and working effectively with peer leaders to resolve friction and drive collective success.

Hands-on experience with modern CRM platforms (Braze is a significant plus) and a deep understanding of their integration with internal content and tech applications.

Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence and partner with senior commercial leaders in a complex, matrixed organization.

A strong understanding of customer lifecycle strategies, enabling you to act as an effective partner to Audience Managers and translate their strategic vision into world-class campaign execution.

A track record of driving operational excellence, process optimization, and automation within a campaign management function.

An analytical mindset with a data-driven, test-and-learn approach to optimization.
