Hauptaufgaben

As Supply Technician, operates a Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A) computer system, which is a local area network (LAN) and consists of a central file server (tower) with a keyboard, printer, and monitor and one (1) or more workstations with keyboards, monitors, and printers. Directs the GCSS-A to perform such automated supply functions as requisitioning, requisition and referral processing, materiel release, storage of supplies and equipment, net asset computation, excess determination, the maintaining of accountable balances and records, the ordering of replenishment stocks, the providing of interchangeability and substitutability (I&S) support, and the requesting of cancellations, modifications, or follow-up on supply transactions.

Monitors all elements of GCSS-A during power up for proper operation and evidence of equipment error or malfunction. Signs on to the GCSS-A as directed by log-in prompts on the screen, which includes entering user ID and password. Uses keyboard to enter transactions or data into GCSS-A or execute processes which automatically enter transactions or data from diskettes, tapes and telecommunication transmissions (modems) into the GCSS-A. Uses various menus and screens in GCSS-A to enter, retrieve and/or manipulate supply information from a display or direct input selection; inquiry information screens for instructions or explanations; or uses interactive screens for inputting data. Reviews GCSS-A input and output data to verify its correctness, applying a thorough knowledge of the data to be processed and familiarity with input/output procedures. Performs interface processes, using the GCSS-A, which allows supported customers to submit requests for issue, status, or cancellations. Is responsible for certain daily mandatory GCSS-A functions, processes, and transactions such as transaction-in process, transaction-out process, close-out process, customer-in process, receipt processing, materiel releases, materiel release denials, etc. Is also responsible for performing other functions, processes, and transactions such as serial number tracking, inventory control, location surveys, condition code changes, maintenance repair work reconciliation with Repair Facility, etc., when directed by supervisor or as a part of normal operations.
Is responsible for generating interactively printed outputs from GCSS-A such as daily, weekly, and monthly reports and listings when these reports and listings are directed by the supervisor. Responsible for the distribution of various output documents to other sections such as storage (MROs) and for the filing of documents such as DD Form 1348-s and various GCSS-A printouts.
Is responsible for ensuring that sufficient supplies are on hand to operate a central file server or terminal workstations such as paper for producing materiel release orders, DD Form 1348-6s, report and listing printouts, floppy diskettes, labels, back-up tapes, etc.
Is responsible for the use of Materiel Release Order Control (MROC) equipment to track, collect and process data using machine-readable bar codes for such transactions as receipts, location surveys, and inventories. In addition, is responsible for the use of the Automated Manifest System (AMS) optical laser card reader/writer to facilitate bulk receipt processing.
Performs Serial Number Tracking through the initial input of serial numbers into GCSS-A for items received from the Source of Supply or from customer turn-ins. Responsible for manually adding serial numbers to Material Release Orders (MROs) when items are picked (released from stock) and are maintained until the confirmation process required for all items tracked by serial number has been completed. Is responsible for performing Serial Number Maintenance of on hand items when serial numbers change as a result of catalog change or to correct previously submitted serial numbers.

Receives and in-checks incoming materiel from source of supply and unit turn-ins against accompanying documents. Ensures correctness, completeness, and proper condition of documentation and materiel. Notes overages, shortages, or any damages incurred in shipping, and/or other deficiencies and initiates Reports of Discrepancy (RODs). Establishes new documentation for missing documents by securing rudimentary documentation and adding missing information. Receipt for materiel by signing the Transportation Control and Movement Document (TCMD), unit turn-in document or any other documentation required to show materiel has been received. Redirects shipments received by mistake. Issues materiel to authorized personnel on basis of proper issue documents and obtains proper acknowledgment for receipt.

Investigates and reconciles discrepancies relating to customer complaints or discrepancies found during receipt processing, materiel releases to customers, or inventory adjustment. Searches through applicable documentation, files and automated records to determine the cause(s) of discrepancies. Takes appropriate action to resolve discrepancy or customer complaint. Receives and answers inquires, orally or in writing, concerning materiel requisitioning, materiel pick-up/deliver, and materiel turn-ins or materiel turn-in procedures and policies.

Selects items from stock for shipment or issue. Matches item identification on issue requests with that at storage location, checks lists showing stock identification changes to insure that the proper items are selected and assembled for issue. Insures that items ready for shipment are properly assembled in the loading area according to pertinent shipping documents, checks the condition of the shipping container or trailer prior to loading. Loads shipments utilizing proper safety procedures. Assists or participates in the performance of physical warehouse inventories. In addition to counting types and quantities of items during inventories, maintains tally listing during the count. Is required to recount or search other storage locations to assist in determining the basis for over, short or misplaced items.

Performs other duties as assigned.

C-05:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 1 year of experience as defined in B below.

Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.

E&T Level II: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 1 year of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level III and above: No additional experience required.

Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.

Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.

Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled.


• Office automation skills are required.

• Applicants must possess and maintain a German driver's license Class B.


LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:

English Language Proficiency level B2 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.

This is a permanent full-time position (38.5 hrs./week).

• If requirement exists, the incumbent of this position is obligated to perform TDY within and outside Germany, shift work, weekend and holiday work.

• Employee must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
