The Neuroimmunology and Imaging group is interested in understanding microglia-neuron interaction relevant for higher brain functions such as learning and memory. In the project, we are interested in microglia synapse interactions and their role for learning and memory. In order to better understand the structural integrity of microglia and the interaction of microglia and neuron on network function, we apply cutting edge in vivo 2-photon STED imaging of microglia and neurons in the hippocampus of mice.
You will be responsible to do animal experiments (mouse), carry out cutting edge 2P-STED imaging in the hippocampus, analyze Ca2+-imaging as well as morphological images of dendritic spines and microglia. You will be responsible for planning and executing mouse craniotomy surgeries and behavior tests.
1. Successful candidate should hold a Master degree in biology (neuroscience), biophysics, physics (optics), bioengineering, biochemistry or related disciplines
2. As a prerequisite the candidate should have experience with 2P-STED imaging, craniotomy surgeries to access the hippocampus, stereotactic AAV-injections, quantitative histology, image data analysis (Ca2+-imaging, dendritic spine imaging), and behavior experiments with rodents
3. Programming skills as well as a FELASA B course or equivalent will be beneficial
