Overview
For one of our Global Clients we are looking for a Senior or Principal FACTS System Design Consultant to join an innovative global venture focused on scaling up HVDC and FACTS technologies. In this role, you will help shape the future of high-voltage electricity transmission by designing flexible grid solutions that support the energy transition.
You will work with a diverse range of clients, including utilities, system operators, developers, investors, government agencies, EPCs, and OEMs. Services range from Technical Advisory and Owner’s Engineering to Independent Engineering.
Responsibilities
* Develop conceptual designs for FACTS and AC systems, including feasibility studies, CAPEX/OPEX, losses, availability, and constructability.
* Perform and review electrical system studies, equipment specifications, and general arrangements for FACTS systems and substations.
* Lead or review system simulations and dynamic stability analyses using industrial tools (e.g., PSS®E, PSCAD, PSLF).
* Design control and protection strategies for multi-terminal FACTS projects, including fault management and grid code compliance.
* Prepare technical specifications, support tenders, and witness FAT/SAT testing.
* Deliver clear reports and commercial proposals.
* Contribute to service portfolio development, market monitoring, and annual planning.
* Represent the company at conferences, publish thought leadership, and engage in standardization (IEEE, IEC, CIGRE).
* Build client relationships and support business development, including with FACTS OEMs.
* Coach and mentor junior consultants.
What you bring
* University degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering or related field.
* 7+ years of experience in FACTS projects across different development phases.
* Solid knowledge of FACTS integration studies, software tools, and regulatory standards (IEC, CIGRE, IEEE).
* Curious, solution-focused, and comfortable working in diverse, collaborative environments.
* Clear communicator who can simplify complex concepts.
* Willingness to travel up to 20% for clients, conferences, and site visits.
Beneficial experience
* Multi-terminal FACTS systems, fault clearing strategies, multi-vendor interoperability, and FACTS procurement processes.
* PSS®E, PSCAD, or PSLF.
