The Role
As our Senior Perception Engineer, you will architect and implement the perception stack that allows our robots to see, understand, and interact with the world. You will work at the intersection of classical computer vision, modern deep learning, and 3D geometry. This is a high-impact, hands-on role with room for technical leadership and mentorship.
What You’ll Do
* Design, develop, and deploy real-time perception pipelines (object detection, segmentation, tracking, localization, and mapping) for robotic systems.
* Fuse data from multiple sensors: LiDAR, RGB-D cameras, stereo vision, IMUs, and radar.
* Implement and optimize state-of-the-art models (CNNs, Transformers, NeRFs, 3D reconstruction) for embedded or edge robotics platforms.
* Calibrate and characterize multi-sensor setups for reliable performance in industrial and semi-structured environments.
* Collaborate closely with software engineers and robotics architects to integrate perception into ROS 2-based autonomy stacks.
* Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical roadmaps.
What You Bring
* M.Sc or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Vision, Computer Science, or related field.
* 5+ years of industry experience in perception for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or similar.
* Deep expertise in Python and C++; production-grade software experience (Git, CI/CD, testing).
* Strong hands-on experience with ROS/ROS 2, OpenCV, PCL, and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow).
* Proven track record with 3D perception (point clouds, pose estimation, SLAM, or sensor fusion).
* Experience optimizing models for real-time performance (CUDA, TensorRT, OpenVINO, or ONNX).
* Fluency in English; German is a plus (but not required for daily work).
