The Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI in Sankt Augustin, near Bonn, has around 180 employees who research and develop innovative methods in the field of computational science and implement them in industrial practice as partners to industry.
The department Biomedical Data Science & AI is dedicated to the development and application of cutting-edge data science approaches (specifically machine learning) in early drug discovery, precision medicine and clinical trials. The team is internationally well connected and are working closely together with leading European and US institutions from academia and industry in multiple research projects.
What you will do
* Development & application of innovative data analytical algorithms in medcine wieth specific focus on digital device technologies
* Active support of ongoing research projects in the department
* Guydance of younger scientists and support of other team members, for example regarding publications and code development
* Presentation of results via scientific publications, workshops and conferences as well as to external collaboration partners
* Acquisition of new projects and technology transfer into pharma and biotech industry in collaboration with the department head
What you bring to the table
* PhD and M.Sc. with excellent grades in Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, Biomathematics or a similar subject
* Competitive scientific publication record
* High level of intrinsic motivation and enthusiasm for translational research connecting academia and industry
* Documented leadership experience, ideally as junior research group leader
* Documented experience with relevant data type collected by smartphones and wearable devices, ideally in the field of neurodegenerative deseases
* Documented experience with devoloping end-to-end software systems for healthcare applications
* Experience with clinical trials
* Strong programming skills in python
* Strong programming skills für mobile and server side software (e.g., Swift, Kotlin, Javascript)
* Documented teaching and student supervision experience at the intersection of health and computer science
* Ability to work independently
* Very good English and German speaking and writing skills
* Excellent communication skills

The weekly working time is 16 hours.
