Within our Information Technology division, we are currently looking to fill the position of Site Reliability Engineer (m/f/d) – E2E Observability & Dev(Sec)Ops Enablement at our Cologne location. Why this position is important Our IT services are the backbone of a secure supply and the digital energy transition. As Lead DevOps Engineer, you will operationalize an end-to-end (E2E) view of our IT services, establish observability as standard, and integrate development and operations so that we can proactively detect disruptions, reduce MTTR, and reliably serve our customers. Responsibilities Your tasks You will be responsible for the E2E visibility of our technical services (observability/monitoring/alerting) and set standards for telemetry, dashboards, and runbooks. You will establish the DevOps lifecycle: from product backlog to operations, including deployment automation, release, and incident processes. You will introduce an SLO/SLI-based operating model and manage it via error budgets. You moderate and standardize blameless post-mortems and derive sustainable improvements with our E2E management (problem management, RCA). You develop and anchor working agreements for cross-functional collaboration between Dev, Ops, Security, Network, and DB teams. You integrate security & compliance into pipelines and operations (e.g., scanners, policies, audits) and connect ITIL/ITSM with DevOps principles. You consolidate tooling (monitoring/logging/tracing/CI/CD) into a harmonized platform, including a migration and adaptation plan. You will coach teams (enablement, training, guilds/communities of practice) and drive cultural and process change. Requirements profile What you bring to the table Must-haves Several years of experience (≈ 6–10 years) in DevOps/SRE with responsibility for observability, operational processes, and automation. Proven implementation of SLO/SLI and error budgets, alerting concepts, and telemetry standards in hybrid environments. Experience in moderating and conducting blameless post-mortems. Deep understanding of CI/CD, IaC, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure (network, security, platforms, databases in interaction). Strength in change/stakeholder management at multiple management levels; moderation, conflict resolution, decision-making ability. Nice-to-haves Experience in regulated environments/critical infrastructure. Practical experience with Kubernetes platform operation, service mesh, policy-as-code. Expertise in secrets/identity management. Salary & benefits Why RheinEnergie This position is remunerated in accordance with pay scale 12 of the collective agreement for utility companies (TV-V). For a full-time position, this corresponds to a gross annual salary of around €71,000–97,000 (depending on professional experience and qualifications).
