Objective
As the appointed Data Privacy Officer (DPO) for Nemak’s German sites, this role ensures strict compliance with all applicable data privacy laws. At the same time, it drives the development of a strong internal control environment across European operations by improving processes, policies, and procedures, and leading thorough compliance investigations.
Additionally, the position supports the European Purchasing team with legal guidance on supplier contracts and disputes, and helps shape robust, standardized contract management practices. By aligning legal, compliance, and operational requirements across regions, this role safeguards Nemak’s interests and enables efficient, sustainable business operations.
Main Responsibilities
1. Act as the appointed Data Privacy Officer (DPO) for Nemak German sites, ensuring compliance with GDPR and German data protection laws.
2. Advise local sites and management teams on data privacy requirements, promoting best practices across the organization.
3. Develop, implement, and maintain internal control processes, policies, and procedures to reinforce compliance.
4. Lead and manage compliance and fraud investigations, delivering timely, thorough resolutions.
5. Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of internal controls with clear, actionable recommendations.
6. Provide legal guidance to the European Purchasing team on supplier contracts and disputes, supporting negotiations on categories including direct/indirect materials, aluminum, energy, Capex, IT, and business services.
7. Support the drafting, review, and improvement of contract templates to ensure consistency, legal soundness, and alignment with Nemak’s strategic needs across business areas and regions.
8. Collaborate with the European Legal team, local Data Privacy Officers, and external advisors to ensure consistent, high-quality compliance standards.
9. Deliver training and awareness initiatives to strengthen the organization’s understanding of data privacy and compliance.
10. Drive continuous improvement in risk management by identifying gaps and implementing practical solutions aligned with corporate strategy.
Position Requirements
11. A bachelor’s degree in Law, Compliance, Business Administration or a comparable qualification.
12. Proven experience as a Data Privacy Officer or in compliance, risk management, internal controls, or contract management in an international environment.
13. Strong knowledge of GDPR, German data protection laws, and internal control best practices.
14. Hands-on mindset with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, able to work effectively across diverse teams and regions.
15. Fluency in English; proficiency in German strongly preferred.
