Cybersecurity in the space domain requires a combination of technical depth, structured thinking and the ability to make well-founded design decisions in complex environments. At CGI, we support leading European and international space organisations in securing critical systems across their full lifecycle.
As a Senior Cyber Security Consultant SPACE (m/f/d), you focus on security architecture and risk-driven design for complex IT and software systems. You combine strong hands-on technical expertise with the ability to structure, justify and communicate security concepts at both technical and project level.
You are comfortable moving between engineering, architecture and customer interaction, and you bring the experience to quickly understand new contexts and contribute effectively.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
•Design and define security architectures for IT and software systems in space environments (e.g. ground segments, control centres)
•Derive security concepts and design decisions based on structured risk assessments (e.g. ISO )
•Analyse and assess vulnerabilities in complex IT infrastructures (software, hardware, networks)
•Integrate cybersecurity requirements into system and software development processes
•Develop specifications for secure and resilient systems
•Perform and support vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities where needed
•Contribute to threat analysis and the development of mitigation strategies
•Support incident analysis and response activities in collaboration with customers
•Rapidly assess technical tender and project documentation with regard to cybersecurity scope, risks and required measures
•Support bid and proposal activities by structuring and evaluating cybersecurity requirements
•Communicate cybersecurity aspects clearly to customer stakeholders, including project and programme management
•Contribute to governance, risk and compliance topics, including ISMS-related activities
•Participate in project reviews and technical discussions with customers
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Qualification
•Several years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, security architecture or related roles
•Strong background in security architecture for complex or mission-critical systems
•Solid understanding of risk management principles (e.g. ISO ) and their application to system design
•Broad technical knowledge across IT systems, networks and common attack vectors
•Practical experience in vulnerability assessment and a basic hands-on understanding of penetration testing
•Familiarity with security governance and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO )
•Ability to quickly understand complex technical contexts and derive structured security assessments
•Confidence in communicating cybersecurity topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
•Degree in IT security, computer science, electrical engineering or a comparable qualification
•Very good communication skills in English; working proficiency in German
Nice To Have
•Experience in space, aerospace or other highly regulated industries
•Experience with security standards and frameworks in critical environments
•Knowledge of threat and risk assessment methodologies
•Experience with security testing tools and techniques
•Project or technical leadership experience
•Willingness and eligibility to undergo a security clearance process (subject to applicable regulations)
