EXTERNAL Local National Applicants, who reside in Germany.


Hauptaufgaben

Sets and reviews own objectives for class school and community projects in terms of DoDEA objectives, guidelines and materials and plans units of study and associated filed trips cooperatively with the American teachers to whom assigned. Based on mutually agreed upon areas of study, prepares lessons according to class and individual needs and observation of pupil performance. Maintains current collection of teaching materials provided by DoDEA and obtained in the host nation community in order to properly plan the scope and sequence of class lessons, field trips and supporting projects involving exchanges and correction with host nation personnel. Keeps attendance records and progress records on each student and advises the American teacher periodically of current student progress. As appropriate to grades one through six, provides for classroom examination of significant aspects of the host nation culture, e.g., history, government, economics, anthropology, sociology and geography, particularly as they apply to the DoDEA social studies curriculum at each grade level. Uses recommended methods and techniques such as simulation activities, demonstrations, games, art and craft experiences, use of audiovisual media, dramatic presentations, music, and map and globe exercises which are best suited to the maturity of the pupils. Conducts lessons in a practical, flexible, and easily comprehensible manner to achieve the goals of instruction. Renders individual assistance to pupils when necessary and to achieve consistent progress in acquiring skills and information covered. Evaluates lessons frequently in terms of pupil progress and adapts the planning of subsequent lessons accordingly. Where the grade level is especially appropriate, assigns out of school activities for individual and small groups which require pupils to experience meaningful contact with the host nation community. Provides basic instruction where comprehension of or simple use of the host nation language are necessary for achievement of certain class activities and/or related investigation of, or interaction with host nation groups or instructions. In addition to those times when participating in class field trips with their American teachers, plans activities in the host nation community and surrounding area which augment, support and extend class activities, e.g., appointments with local host nation school personnel to prepare student exchange activities, preparing for joint field trips with a host nation class, setting up a bi-national overnight or week-long program at a youth hostel, visiting a local site to make preliminary or final preparations for a class visitation, to gather local materials for use by American teachers and the incumbent's own class, to arrange for a special area resources to create, expand, and update the school's community resource manual, to obtain information, brochures and schedules for use in publishing a periodic newsletter advising parents and teachers of current concerts, festival celebrations and other host nation community and area activities of particular educational value and interest, preparing the itinerary for a faculty host nation tour or project, or planning an exchange visitation between the faculties of the American school and its host nation sister's school.


Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifikationsanforderungen

BASIC REQUIREMENT:

Completion of at least first state examination for teaching at elementary, junior or senior high school level. (German Cultural/Regional Studies, Social Science, History, German preferred).

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English and German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.
