The Role: How You’ll Make an Impact at Personio
At Personio, we’re on a mission to empower organizations to work more efficiently by streamlining and automating thousands of HR processes across Europe. As a Lead Database Reliability Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our data platforms are robust, scalable, and high-performing—directly supporting the teams and products that drive Personio’s success.
You’ll join a talented team, collaborating across Europe to solve complex database challenges, drive automation, and implement best practices. Your expertise will shape the reliability and future of our data infrastructure, making a real impact on how Personio delivers value to our customers.
This role will be Hybrid, based in either our Dublin, London, Madrid, Berlin or Munich office 2 days a week.
What You Will Focus On
* Database Reliability & Performance: Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our core data platforms, proactively identifying and resolving database issues before they impact our business.
* Collaboration & Support: Work closely with engineering teams to support database queries, optimize performance, and provide expert guidance on data storage solutions.
* Automation & Best Practices: Design and implement automation for routine database tasks using scripting (e.g., Bash, Python), and champion best practices in database governance and code review.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in our database operations, collaborating with engineers to share knowledge and enhance our data infrastructure.
* Innovation & Impact: Influence the future of Personio’s data systems by introducing new tools, techniques, and processes that elevate our platform’s reliability and efficiency.
What You Need To Succeed
* Deep Database Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with AWS (especially Amazon RDS), MySQL (MariaDB), and PostgreSQL in production environments.
* Automation Skills: Strong scripting abilities in Bash or Python, with a passion for automating database operations and improving efficiency.
* Customer-Focused Mindset: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to support and empower engineering teams.
* Problem-Solving & Initiative: A proactive approach to identifying and solving complex database challenges, always seeking opportunities to improve and innovate.
* Desire to Learn & Share: Eagerness to stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and best practices, and to mentor others on the team.
