THE POST
This position offers German-speaking journalists the opportunity to contribute to the coverage of Europe's most populous country, at a particularly interesting time, as Germany is undergoing geopolitical and economic change. The work is diverse, ranging from cultural and social issues to politics and diplomacy, economics, and sports. These last two disciplines also fall within the scope of general editors' coverage, depending on needs.
Editorial work is carried out across three production sites: the main office in Berlin and offices in Frankfurt and Munich. Given the high level of current events, it requires excellent responsiveness to information, relying on independent research in close cooperation with AFP's German editorial team, high-quality German newspapers, 24-hour news channels, a public service channel that broadcasts almost all political press conferences and parliamentary debates live, and the reliable websites of major media outlets. For sports, the editorial team relies on the sports agency SID, another AFP subsidiary.
Berlin is a remote capital, so you will have to travel.
You will attach particular importance to good coordination between the different professions (text, photo, video and computer graphics) and will contribute if necessary to multimedia coverage.
You organize your own monitoring on social networks, where your activity must imperatively respect the rules set out by the Agency in its guide to participation in networks. In general, you ensure compliance with the AFP charter of good editorial and ethical practices as well as all editorial practices in force.
The schedule is flexible, including early and late hours, including the weekend .
The nature of the position is likely to change depending on the needs of the Agency.
