About the Position We are looking for a seasoned professional to take on the role of Head of Procurement (m/f/d). In this key position, you will lead and further develop our procurement function for high alloy materials, technical services, contributing to the strategic alignment and operational efficiency of our global sourcing activities. As Head of Procurement, you will take full ownership of a strategic purchasing volume of approximately €80 million per year. This includes high alloy materials, energy, technical services, equipment, and capital expenditures (CAPEX). In this leadership role, you will guide and develop a team of up to 7 professionals while driving the reorganization and modernization of the existing procurement structure. Your role involves close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders on a global level. You will ensure the availability of technical goods and raw materials in terms of cost, quality, and delivery performance—while developing innovative sourcing strategies and supplier relationships. Your key responsibilities include: Reorganization and optimization of current procurement processes and contracts Identification, qualification, and development of new suppliers, especially for secondary raw materials Strategic negotiation and conclusion of supply contracts (pricing, payment terms, Incoterms, consignment stock) End-to-end supplier management: audits, evaluations, approvals, development, and phase-outs Active participation in cross-functional projects (e.g., with operations, engineering, suppliers) Contribution to continuous improvement processes with focus on cost, delivery performance, and inventory optimization Your Profile You have a university degree in engineering or a comparable technical field and bring at least seven years of professional experience in a similar position—ideally within the chemical or materials industry. Your background combines strategic thinking with strong operational understanding, and you are well-versed in managing complex procurement processes on a global scale. As a leader, you are structured, analytical, and hands-on, with the ability to guide and develop a team effectively. You possess excellent communication and negotiation skills and are confident in working across all levels of the organization as well as with international suppliers. Your approach is marked by integrity, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility. A solid understanding of corporate governance and procurement compliance rounds out your profile. Fluent English is a must; additional language skills are a plus.
