You will work at the heart of our central tech team to build innovative solutions in areas like personalized news delivery, newsroom automation, and AI-powered product features – projects that are critical to Axel Springer’s future. design, build, and operate AI-powered features across the entire stack – from frontend to scalable microservices
implement intelligent content personalization, newsroom automation, and generative journalism tools
lead impactful special projects, from rapid prototypes to full-scale systems, with strong influence on technical direction and strategic outcomes
work in cross-functional teams (engineering, product, editorial) and own projects from concept to production
5+ years of full-stack engineering experience with significant experience building modern web applications and distributed systems
~ js, Python, Java, etc.)
~ proficient in cloud platforms (AWS or similar), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and DevOps practices
~ strong interest and preferably hands-on experience in AI/ML technologies (API integration, models, RAG systems, or recommendation engines) and experience with AI development tools like Cursor, Cline, Claude Code is a plus
~ solution-oriented mindset and a “just do it” mentality is key – you prefer shipping value over chasing perfection and are confident, driven, and open to try new things
~ excellent communication skills in English and ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders
~ agile mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to bring startup energy to a fast-moving environment
