We are looking for a (Senior-) Scientist / PostDoc - Microbial Upstream Processing / Fermentation (m/w/d) to join our team as soon as possible on a full-time basis. Plan, execute, and optimize E. coli fermentations on a laboratory scale (1-10 L). Establish and further develop processes to increase expression levels and improve product quality. Lead and train scientists and technicians for operating upstream processes and maintaining the equipment. Tech transfer of developed processes to pilot and production scales (>100 L). Perform cell disruption and initial product purification steps. Closely collaborate with and support teams in downstream processing, analytics, and process development. Support quality management and continuous process improvement initiatives. PhD in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, or a related field. At least two years of industry experience. Strong background in microbial fermentation, particularly with E. coli. A solid theoretical foundation in recombinant expression, including knowledge of expression systems, cloning techniques, and strain development. Proficient in methods for analyzing and evaluating biotechnological processes. Experience in tech transfer and, ideally, in scaling up processes to larger volumes. Experience in programming for process automation in lab scales is a plus. Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style. Excellent German and English communication skills, both written and spoken. Permanent employment contract in the heart of Düsseldorf.
