Project Details: We are seeking an experienced professional to further develop, optimize, and operate our IBM Information Management System (IMS) database environments in the mainframe sector. The position requires in-depth expertise in IMS DB, IMS TM, COBOL integration, as well as solid knowledge in performance tuning, system architecture, and high-availability operational processes. The role involves close collaboration with internal business units, international development teams, and external partners, and requires fluent German language skills for communication with departments, auditors, and management. Main Tasks 1. Development & Customization •Design, implementation, and enhancement of complex IMS DB data models (Full Function & Fast Path). •Creation and maintenance of PSB, DBD, and ACB structures. •Development of COBOL programs for IMS data access and processing. •Optimization of database and transaction architecture with a focus on latency, scalability, and resilience. 2. Operations & Administration •Monitoring and management of IMS production systems (batch & online). •Execution of database and system reorganizations. •Implementation and maintenance of recovery strategies (DBRC, log handling, disaster recovery concepts). •Performance analysis and optimization in close cooperation with the systems programming team. 3. Interfaces & Project Work •Coordination with application development, mainframe operations, and IT security. •Technical consulting in projects for migration, modernization, and integration of IMS systems. •Preparation of technical documentation in German for operations, audits, and compliance reviews. 4. Quality Assurance & Compliance •Ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001). •Implementation and maintenance of monitoring and alerting systems. •Participation in internal and external audits. Requirements Technical: •Several years of experience in IMS DB / IMS TM (design, development, operations). •Strong knowledge of JCL, COBOL, REXX, Assembler is an advantage. •Experience in z/OS mainframe environments. •Expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning. •Familiarity with change and release management tools (e.g., Endevor, ISPW). Methodological: •Experience with ITIL-based processes. •Knowledge of project management (traditional & agile). •Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Language: •Excellent German skills, spoken and written (C1/C2). •Good English skills for international communication.
