Team Lead – Automation Engineering
An innovative engineering company near Munich is looking to appoint a Team Lead to take responsibility for its core automation and production systems group. Operating at the intersection of robotics, mechanical design, and smart process control, the company delivers bespoke, high-performance solutions for the composite materials industry - with applications across aerospace, mobility, and renewable energy sectors.
This is a leadership position within a growing, high-tech environment. You will be responsible for guiding a cross-functional team of four engineers working on concept development, equipment implementation, supplier collaboration, and international commissioning. The role reports directly to the Technical Director and forms part of the broader management team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team working on automation technologies for composite manufacturing
* Oversee the full lifecycle of automation projects: from design and planning through to procurement, assembly, and customer delivery
* Coordinate directly with customers and suppliers on system specifications and implementation
* Actively participate in R&D, optimisation studies, and continuous improvement of production platforms
* Support on-site commissioning activities, including occasional international travel (~10%)
Your Profile:
* Background in mechanical, automation, or mechatronic engineering (Master’s or equivalent)
* At least 5 years’ experience in the design and implementation of industrial automation systems
* Proven leadership experience in an engineering or technical environment
* Hands-on mindset with a structured, analytical, and quality-driven approach
* Proficiency with CAD tools; experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus
* Fluent English; German language skills desirable
* Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 10%)
