We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer (m/f/d) (unlimited, full-time) Join our team at our location in Berlin, Baden-Baden, Verl or Tallinn – flexible working conditions available (Y)our Mission: You will design and operate the systems that make AI use cases possible across Riverty: the AI Gateway, model routing, MCP communication, technical governance, and internal SDKs. Your work shapes how Riverty adopts AI in a controlled, interoperable, and platform-centric way. Your key responsibilities: - Design, develop, and operate core AI infrastructure components such as the AI Gateway, Model Router, Policy Layer, and MCP Server. - Define architecture patterns for secure, scalable, and governed AI integration across all product domains. - Build internal SDKs, libraries, and tools that enable engineering teams to integrate AI consistently. - Contribute to technical governance through standards, lifecycle rules, design reviews, and architectural guidance. - Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Security to ensure alignment and compliance with Riverty-wide guidelines. - Improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of central AI services. - Enable use case teams by providing frameworks, reusable components, and best practices for AI integration. - Maintain clear documentation and contribute to a shared architectural knowledge base. Your profile: - Strong background in backend or platform engineering (Java, Python, or TypeScript). - Experience building APIs, gateways, or distributed systems in cloud-native environments. - Solid understanding of AI integration patterns (e.g., model APIs, routing, agent protocols). - Ability to define and implement architectural standards and governance structures. - Strong software design skills at senior or architect level. - Focus on long-term maintainability, stability, and interoperability. - Collaborative working style and clear communication in cross-functional environments. - Fluent in written and spoken English.
