To strengthen our team at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Idstein, we are looking for a full-time position (40 hours per week) starting July 1, 2025:
Professor for Green Chemistry (m/f/d).
What to Expect:
1.Teaching and Supervision:
* Conducting lectures and courses in chemistry, green chemistry, sustainable chemical processes, and related topics at the bachelor's and master's level
* Supervising final theses (bachelor’s and master’s)
* Developing new teaching formats that combine sustainable chemistry and innovative didactic approaches, such as project work, e-learning, or laboratory courses
2. Research:
* Establishing and leading a research program in Green Chemistry, with a particular focus on sustainable synthesis pathways, renewable resources, or circular economy
* Publishing research results in high-ranking international journals and presenting at scientific conferences
* Securing third-party funding (e.g., from the DFG, EU funding programs, or industry partners) to support research projects
3. Networking and Collaborations:
* Establishing collaborations with industry partners to develop sustainable solutions for chemical processes and products
* Cooperating with other faculties and universities to promote interdisciplinary research approaches in Green Chemistry and sustainability
* Facilitating knowledge transfer between academia, industry, and society
4. Innovation and Sustainability:
* Developing and implementing concepts to integrate sustainability into chemical education and research processes
* Raising awareness of sustainable chemistry within the university community through workshops, lectures, or student projects
5. Academic Administration:
* Contributing to the further development of the chemistry study programs with a particular focus on sustainability and environmental protection
* Participating in committees and academic commissions at Hochschule Fresenius
6. Mentoring and Community Building:
* Supporting and mentoring students in study programs, internships, and research projects
* Establishing and fostering an active Green Chemistry community within and beyond the university
What you should bring with you
* Demonstrable expertise in at least one of the following areas: Safe and Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD), Circular Economy, Chemical Production from Biological Resources, Chemical Recycling
* In-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry and process analytical chemistry
* Experience with modern analytical methods, e.g., spectroscopic techniques, chromatographic methods, mass spectrometry, or inline and online process controls
* Experience with substance assessment methods is desirable
* Willingness to explore and implement new technologies for the transformation of the chemical industry
* Proven success in securing third-party funding
* Experience in leading and conducting cooperative research projects
* Established international and relevant network in the field of sustainable chemistry
* Regular publication in high-ranking scientific journals in the fields of Green Chemistry, Sustainability, or Process Chemistry
* Teaching experience in chemistry, preferably Green Chemistry, at the bachelor's and master's level
* Proven experience in supervising bachelor's, master's, and doctoral theses in relevant subject areas
* Fluent English skills (C1 level)
* Good German language skills or willingness to acquire them in the short term
* Interest in collaborating with industrial partners and in founding spin-offs or startups
* Willingness and commitment to establishing an independent research area at Hochschule Fresenius
* Mandatory: At least three years of non-university professional experience or habilitation
* PhD in Chemistry or a relevant field of Green Chemistry
