The Opportunity
As a software architect, you will collaborate with a team of international experts in technology, business, and healthcare. Software development is central to DHEC’s offerings, and we seek to enhance our technical expertise with your skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and guide the development team to maintain the architectural vision.
* Coordinate with near- and offshore technical teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
* Collaborate with clinical teams, administrators, and healthcare professionals to prioritize and develop health-specific software requirements.
* Evaluate and select appropriate software development technologies, tools, and platforms.
* Design architectural blueprints for development teams to implement.
* Communicate requirements effectively to stakeholders, including project managers, product owners, and security architects.
* Provide training and support in business development initiatives.
Required Skills and Attributes
* Strong communication, presentation, client service, and technical writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Proficiency in the local language of residence; fluency in English is mandatory. Additional languages (Italian, Portuguese, German) are advantageous.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
* Flexibility to travel as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related IT field; Master’s or certifications are a plus.
* At least 5 years of professional experience, with 2+ years in healthcare, focusing on native mobile app development (Android/iOS). Experience with hybrid/web solutions is a plus.
* Deep understanding of mobile application development, frameworks, and the technical aspects of Android and iOS.
* Solid knowledge of software architectures across all layers—network, infrastructure, security, persistence, application, and frontend.
* Proven experience in technical documentation, database design, and data modeling.
* Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform.
* Experience designing healthcare system architectures and ensuring interoperability with standards like HL7/FHIR, OMOP, openEHR.
* Knowledge of the German healthcare landscape, including TI, HIS, LIMS, etc.
Preferred Attributes
* Established network within the healthcare industry and consulting experience.
* Awareness of emerging healthcare technologies and trends, with the ability to integrate them into projects.
* Familiarity with agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum or SAFe.
* Programming skills in languages like Java, C++, C#, Python, PHP.
