The Center for Digital Medicine (ZDM) is a scientific institution at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. The ZDM aims to conduct excellent research in the fields of bioinformatics, medical informatics, data science, and artificial intelligence with medical applications.
What are your main responsibilities?
We are looking for a person to take on the following tasks within the new Machine Learning for Medical Data working group:
* Commissioning and maintenance of new system components (e.g., workstations, GPU servers, and notebooks)
* Maintenance, design, and utilization of the working group's software and website
* Planning, setting up, and managing hardware and software solutions for teaching and research.
* Planning and implementing security measures and backups.
* Advising, supporting, and training users of the IT systems.
What do we expect?
* Training as an IT specialist or a relevant university degree (bachelor's or equivalent) or a comparable qualification
* Specialized knowledge and interest in current computing and storage infrastructure (GPU computing, file servers, network technology, backup/recovery systems, IaaS, cloud services)
* In-depth programming skills in at least one of the languages Python, MATLAB, Java, C/C++ and willingness to familiarize yourself with current tools (e.g., deep learning frameworks, GUI programming, versioning software)
* Very good written and spoken English skills for mostly English-language technical literature and for communicating with international colleagues at ZDM
* Previous experience with DevOps, CI/CD workflows, virtual machines, containers, and TYPO3 is an advantage.
* Previous experience in data protection law, German industrial standards (DIN), and international standards (IEEE, ISO, ANSI) in the field of information technology is an advantage.
* High level of self-motivation, especially with regard to keeping up with current technological trends in order to remain at the cutting edge of technology.
* Particular sensitivity towards users with very different levels of prior knowledge and skills.
