Your Role
Key responsibilities in your new role
As an industrial doctorate at Infineon, you will pursue a doctoral degree at a University and gain professional experience simultaneously - an ideal start for your career. Advance your research with us and profit from our vast network of doctoral candidates and the expertise of a university. Mentorship is handled by both professors and dedicated Infineon employees. The research will be carried out in cooperation with the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Kupsch.
We are offering a doctoral thesis dealing with simulations and measurements of micromachined ultrasonic transducers in a 130 nm CMOS environment.
* Simulation: CMUT and PMUT device simulation and modelling
* Measurements: Electric and acoustic measurements to assess device performance and limitations
* Design: Device design for specific applications e.g. time of flight measurements and imaging
The learnings out of the thesis will lead to:
* Deep knowledge on device physics and device modelling
* Understanding the impact of technology constraints on the available parameter space of ultrasonic devices
* Extending our ultrasonic technology roadmap
* Collection of requirements for various potential applications (time of flight, flow measurement, imagers and phase arrays)
* New ultrasonic sensor product initiatives
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
* Education: Master's degree in electrical engineering, physics or a related field with a very good academic track record
* Knowledge:
o Basic knowledge in the field of semiconductor technology, semiconductor device theory and simulation, material science, sensors or microsystems is beneficial
o Know-how in ultrasound would be an asset
* Motivation:
o Being keen about getting a deep dive into modelling and theoretical understanding of micro-electromechanical devices and simulation
o Self-driven initiative to technically support experiments in the project (Lab setup, programming of test software, sample planning, reporting) and explore the opportunity for further characterization methods
* Personality:
o Committed, self-motivated, and proactive team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
o Willingness to collaborate with internal and external research partners
* Languages:
