We are seeking a talented and driven Scientist to join our LNP Process Development team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in lipid nanoparticle formulation and process optimization to support robust and scalable delivery systems for mRNA products.
Your Role
As a Scientist in the mRNA Center of Excellence, you will be responsible for:
· Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments to develop and optimize LNP formulation processes (e.g., microfluidic mixing, lipid composition studies).
· Work hands-on in the lab, performing formulation runs and troubleshooting experimental challenges.
· Perform analytical methods for LNP process characterization (e.g., particle size analysis, polydispersity, encapsulation efficiency, lipid quantification).
· Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and provide scientific recommendations for process improvements.
· Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve LNP process performance and scalability.
· Support technology transfer and scale-up of LNP processes to GMP manufacturing.
· Author technical documentation including protocols, reports, and development summaries.
· Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in accordance with internal quality standards.
· Work closely with cross-functional teams (Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing) to ensure successful implementation of LNP processes.
What You Bring
We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about biotechnology and eager to contribute to the development of mRNA vaccines. Ideal applicants will have:
· Master’s or PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
· 5+ years of industry experience in LNP formulation and process development for nucleic acid-based therapeutics.
· Hands-on experience with microfluidic mixing, lipid handling, and encapsulation techniques.
· Proficiency in analytical methods for LNP characterization (DLS, HPLC for lipids, encapsulation assays).
· Proficiency in data analysis, scientific writing, and presentation of technical findings.
· Quick learner with curiosity to challenge status quo and find innovative solutions.
· Ability to document and communicate effectively in English; German language skills are a plus.
Qualifications Considered a Plus:
· Prior experience supporting technology transfer and scale-up to GMP manufacturing.
· Exposure to lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation and encapsulation of mRNA.
· Experience with DOE (Design of Experiments) and process modelling tools.
