About the Project
Join an international engineering team involved in the design and development of complex plastic components for premium automotive brands. The role focuses on managing the complete product design lifecycle — from concept definition and feasibility studies to CAD validation and production readiness.
You will work in close collaboration with the customer, tooling suppliers, and internal manufacturing teams to deliver top-quality exterior components (e.g. bumpers and exterior trims) in line with technical and aesthetic specifications.
WHAT YOUR CHALLENGES WILL BE?
* Gather all technical data from the customer (gap and flushness, interfaces, surrounding parts, requirements).
* Propose design solutions and provide technical recommendations for project decisions.
* Conduct feasibility analyses (styling, injection, demoulding, painting, assembly, packaging, recycling).
* Define plastic components in CAD software or supervise CAD engineers to create full 3D and 2D data.
* Manage daily communication with the CAD office and Tier 2 suppliers, ensuring compliance with internal standards.
* Validate CAD files, drawings, and attributes received from suppliers and ensure regular updates in the CAD database.
* Define and manage datum schemes, stack-up files, and tolerances with the Geometry Engineer.
* Cooperate with tooling and injection teams to optimize tool design alongside product design.
* Prepare specifications for checking fixtures and validate related 2D drawings.
* Analyse and implement design changes to meet customer or manufacturing requirements.
* Report project progress, timing plans, and design review actions to the Engineering Project Manager (EPM).
WE IMAGINE THAT YOU WILL HAVE:
Experience: at least 6–8 years in plastic part design and development (automotive industry preferred).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Technical expertise:
* Strong knowledge of plastic part design (shrinkage, demoulding, isostatism systems, stack-ups).
* Proficiency in CATIA V5 (own license is an advantage).
* Understanding of mould design and tooling interfaces.
Languages:
* German – fluent (daily customer communication)
* English – very good (team collaboration)
* Soft skills: Proactive and independent, strong problem-solving and leadership abilities, confident in customer interaction and technical negotiations.
