We offer a three-year training as a horticultural specialist in garden and landscape construction. This includes a one-year basic training and specialized training in the second year of training. We will teach you knowledge and skills in the following areas:
* Nature and environmental protection, rational energy and material use
* Planning, preparation and control of products, services and work
* Soils, earths and substrates
* Plants and their application
* Machines, equipment and operational facilities, materials and raw materials
* Preparation, installation and finalization of construction sites
* Execution of excavation work and water management measures
* Creation of paved areas
* Creation of outdoor structures
The theoretical training takes place in block form at the Gregor-Mendel-Berufskolleg Paderborn. The practical training takes place in the department for environmental protection and green spaces of the city. This part of the training can be supplemented by various internships in gardening companies.
Before the end of the second year of training, a intermediate exam is taken, in which the knowledge and skills acquired so far are requested. The training ends with a final exam, which also consists of a knowledge and skills test.
Nach der Ausbildung bieten sich Garten- und Landschaftsgärtner*innen ein breites Spektrum an Tätigkeitsfeldern. Sie können im öffentlichen Dienst oder in der freien Wirtschaft arbeiten und sich auf verschiedene Bereiche wie die Gestaltung und Begrünung von Außenanlagen, die Anlage und Pflege von Hausgärten und -höfen, Dach- und Terrassengärten, Fassaden- und Innenraumbegrünungen usw. spezialisieren.
