Editorial Assistant (m/f/d) in Kassel
We are looking for an Editorial Assistant (m/f/d) with initial experience in editorial work to support the team in planning, coordinating, and monitoring workflows involved in producing the publications for documenta 16, and who is also willing and enthusiastic about being involved in an internationally oriented exhibition project. The role supports long-term editorial planning, contributor coordination, and production workflows across print, audio, and digital formats.
Your responsibilities will include in particular:
• Supporting the organization of editorial workflows for publications (print/digital)
• Close collaboration with internal stakeholders
• Trustful communication with external partners
• Supporting the coordination of editing and proofreading processes and within translations
• Editing and writing texts
• Organizing meetings and coordinating schedules
• Preparing indexes, imprints, acknowledgements, and credits
• Supporting editorial production across multiple publication formats
• Support the coordination of long-term editorial calendars and production timelines
• Assisting with commissioning processes, contributor contracts, and fee tracking
• Assisting sound producers and digital teams for audio-based publications
• Supporting image workflows
Your profile:
• Initial professional experience in editorial work, preferably with a focus on contemporary art and/or literary studies
• Initial experience in writing and editing texts
• Very good coordination and office management skills
• Attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Enjoying process-based, collaborative work as part of a large, international team
• Interest in publications related to contemporary art
• Confidence working with multiple contributors, deadlines, and parallel workflows
• Familiarity with rights, permissions, or image clearance processes

The position is fixed-term until 31 October 2027.
