Senior Unreal Engine Developer (C++ | UE4/5)
Location: Hanover, Germany | Hybrid Preferred | Remote Possible
Salary: €60,000 - €80,000 (DOE)
A growing software development studio is seeking a Senior Unreal Engine Developer with strong C++ skills and experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or 5. The studio focuses on real-time 3D applications built with game engine technology for use in architecture and the industrial sector - not gaming. Projects include room configurators, car visualizations, and complex machine simulations, often replacing physical trade show setups with immersive digital alternatives.
This role is ideal for someone who loves building powerful, scalable applications, values clean, well-documented code, and thrives in a collaborative environment. The position focuses strictly on development - not art - and offers the opportunity to work on high-impact, high-visibility projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust systems and tools using Unreal Engine and C++
- Build interactive, user-focused applications with real-time rendering capabilities.
- Collaborate with a team of experienced developers to solve real-world visualization challenges.
- Contribute to internal coding standards, documentation, and version control best practices.
- Optimize performance across platforms, including desktop and cloud environments.
- Work with modern deployment stacks including Unreal Pixel Streaming and Kubernetes.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5) development with C++.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale projects in a team-based setting (not freelance-only).
- Strong knowledge of clean code principles, documentation, and team workflows (task splitting, peer reviews, etc.).
- A demonstrable code portfolio or GitHub account (personal contributions are highly valued).
- Excellent English communication skills; German is a plus but not required.
- Must be eligible to work in Germany (visa extensions are supported; new visa sponsorship is not available).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Unreal Pixel Streaming.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for scalable deployments.
- Background in architectural or industrial visualization.
- Knowledge of geometry scripting, AI systems, performance profiling, or network optimization.
- Interest in microcontroller projects, open source contributions, or similar technical hobbies.
Benefits:
- Salary range from €60,000 to €80,000 depending on experience.
- Flexible working hours with hybrid and fully remote options.
- Engaged and experienced team that values collaboration, clean code, and shared learning.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge, real-time 3D applications for high-profile clients.
- No corporate red tape - just real-world problems and creative technical solutions.
Application Process:
- Initial 30-45 minute introductory call.
- Code samples or GitHub review (a test task may be provided if needed).
- Final interview to clarify details.
