Master Thesis in Experimental Ophthalmology Our research team in the Experimental and Translational Ophthalmology Department at the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz has extensive experience in basic research in the field of Ophthalmology. We are interested in understanding the underlying mechanisms leading to retinal and ocular surface diseases, such as Dry Eye Disease, AMD and Glaucoma. Unraveling pathways and identifying biomarkers will greatly contribute to a better understanding of disease onset and progression and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art proteomics and antigen/antibody microarray technologies, as well as comprehensive cell culture and biochemical assay facilities. We are now looking for motivated Master students to join our international team and support our research efforts. Starting date: Immediately Sample preparation and measurement Analysis and statistical evaluation of results Investigation of molecular pathways Evaluation of novel biomarkers for diagnosis/therapeutic use Participate in general management of the lab Bachelor´s degree in Life Sciences successfully completed Proficient in English Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and within a team Laboratory experience and strong interest in basic research Comprehensive training and supervision An international team of dedicated scientists Access to state-of-the-art facilities for cell culture, metabolic analysis, proteomics, and immunoblotting
