The Group Investment Management (GIM) division is responsible for managing the proprietary Munich Re and ERGO investment portfolio of around €230bn. Within the business unit Alternative Investment and Asset manager selection of GIM the Financial Assets & Solutions department (GIM1.3.2) is modeling the behavior of illiquid/alternative asset classes, determines the optimal asset allocation in alternative assets and supports investment managers and the asset manager selection team with quantitative methods. The methods used range from time series analysis, cash flow modeling, investment portfolio optimization up to use of Large Language Models for analysis of unstructured data.
Within this exciting environment you will support the team as an intern within the alternative assets department “Financial Assets & Solutions“, in developing AI-driven methods, models and processes for an analysis of illiquid investments.
Your Job
* Optimization of existing and development of new text analysis tools
* Extracting structured data from unstructured sources using LLMs for automation
* Data intake from in-house databases and integration of third party data sources
* Participating in projects at the intersection of AI, data analytics, and investment topics
* Visualization of results in a dashboard format to support investment managers in their decision-making
Your Profile
* Student in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a comparable field
* Strong programming skills, especially in Python, are a prerequisite
* Well-maintained Git repository is of advantage
* Very good knowledge and strong interest in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, in particular Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, and their application to unstructured data
* Familiarity with Databricks and Power BI is beneficial
* Basic knowledge of or interest in financial mathematics
Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
