In this dual-function role, you will own critical processes at the intersection of Finance and People Operations.
Finance & Accounting: Guardian of Our Financial Integrity
You ensure the smooth financial operations that underpin our research and development.
* Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice verification, payment preparation, and vendor/customer reconciliation.
* Perform general ledger postings and account reconciliations (bank accounts, clearing accounts).
* Support the monthly financial close process and prepare payment runs.
* Review and process employee expense reports in line with company policy.
* Support external audits, tax compliance activities, and internal controls (HGB/IFRS).
* Maintain accounting documentation in compliance with legal retention requirements.
Payroll: Champion for Our People
By delivering a flawless and timely payroll, you directly contribute to the well-being and satisfaction of the team that drives our scientific innovation.
* Run monthly payroll in compliance with German labor law, including gross-to-net calculations, social insurance contributions, and tax withholdings.
* Process all payroll-relevant data and changes (new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses).
* Serve as the main point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and coordinate with external payroll providers.
* Submit all required reports to social insurance and tax authorities.
General Administration & HR: The Organizational Hub
* Handle HR administration end-to-end: employment contracts, onboarding, personnel data, and offboarding in compliance with GDPR and labor law.
* Support public grant applications, reporting for R&D, and manage contracts for our company car pool and insurance agreements.
* Administer time tracking, absence management, and maintain digital personnel files.
Your expertise
Your Profile: A Recipe for Mutual SuccessTo thrive in this role and grow with our team, you ideally bring the following qualifications:
* Completed commercial apprenticeship (e.g., Buchhalter/in, Bürokauffrau/-mann) or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, HR or a related field
* Professional certification in accounting or payroll (e.g., Finanzbuchhalter/in, Lohnbuchhalter/in) is a strong plus
* 3–5 years of professional experience in accounting and/or payroll
* Solid knowledge of German payroll processing (Lohnabrechnung) and social insurance regulations
* Strong background in general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
* Familiarity with German tax and labor law compliance
* Proficiency in HRIS systems — Personio preferred — and accounting software such as DATEV or SAP and expense management tools (Navan, Concur, Lanes & Planes or similar)
* Excel skills and confidence with the Microsoft Office Suite
* Full professional proficiency in German (C2) and solid English skills (B2)
