Job Summary: The Subsection RI P&C holds worldwide IT account management for Non-Life Reinsurance Underwriting and is responsible for maintenance and development of the Underwriting Platform. We are looking for a Solution Architect focused on the UWPF project to develop and grow the global application landscape for Non-Life Reinsurance Underwriting. The role encompasses solution design, application development, and active representation in the global Architecture Community.
Your Job
* Setting and enforcing architecture principles in alignment with the enterprise architectural plan.
* Supporting the strategic direction of technology investments to assist in developing the enterprise architecture and maximize return on technology investment.
* Creating/defining conceptual architecture for:
o Business Architecture
o Solution Architecture (Application Architecture, Data Architecture)
o Infrastructure Architecture (emphasis on Business and Application Architecture)
* Govern architecture evolution with the project Architecture Roadmap and planning as well as architecture strategies.
* Define, document, communicate and explain Target Solution Architecture and architecture goals to business as well as various other stakeholders and consult during the development of product requirements.
* Requirements analysis for architecture‑driven requirements.
* Quality advocate for architectural qualities like robustness, performance, maintainability and evolvability, including adherence to appropriate standards.
* Feature definition and feature dependency evaluation and presentation in an agile way of working mode.
* Provide guidance during feature scoping, refinement and solution design.
* Technical debt management in terms of IT security and regulatory compliance.
* Awareness and application of external policies and guidelines; resolve security related questions with Security Architecture and jointly establish compliance‑approved solutions.
* Accountability for development, testing and implementation of technology solutions, leveraging existing architectural patterns whenever possible, and reporting on delivery commitments.
* Defining and enforcing development principles and processes.
* Moderate and resolve design conflicts with development process, trade‑off management – escalation instance.
Your Profile
* University degree, preferably in Computer Engineering / IT or similar qualification.
* Several years of experience in software development as a developer and architect, with in‑depth knowledge of the entire software development and product lifecycle.
* Strong analytical and conceptual skills – experience in large business application development projects as Architect or Lead Design Role.
* Experience in large‑scale application and data architecture design and planning, including:
o Domain‑driven design concepts
o Large‑scale Data Architectures
o Architecture analysis and design techniques, modelling and documentation.
* Deep technical knowledge in cloud technologies, especially Microsoft Azure, .NET‑based architectures, web‑based systems, service‑oriented architecture, and balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints.
* Microsoft Technology and Dev Stack including Azure and Azure DevOps; Distributed and Cloud‑Based Architecture; Container concepts and Kubernetes are a plus.
* Consulting and collaborative working style with a willingness to participate in a culture of accountability and sharing.
* High degree of commitment and ability to master a variety of tasks.
* Thought leadership – ability to monitor market trends and drive creative thinking on future technology capabilities that increase business value of Munich Re.
* Fluent spoken and written English.
* Communication skills to translate and explain architecture, trade‑off decisions and organizational matters to stakeholders with or without IT background.
* Experienced in agile ways of working in a highly regulated IT environment – from an architect’s perspective.
