Thesis (B/M): Design and construction of a laboratory screw conveyor
The Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology Fraunhofer UMSICHT develops process engineering solutions in the field of carbon conversion (next-generation biofuels, recycling technologies for plastics and composite materials, biochar), low-emission combustion and firing technology, and the provision and storage of process heat. It also has expertise in waste and resource strategies and life cycle assessment (LCA). With a focus on process engineering and plant construction, it supports clients from the project idea through pilot plants and demonstrators to market launch.

Would you like to contribute to sustainable research through practical engineering work? As part of our team, you will support the design and construction of a laboratory-scale screw conveyor for cold flow tests, which will be used to validate a numerical model. You will help to translate technical concepts into a functional test setup, thereby contributing directly to model verification and experimental research.
Be part of change
* Design and construction of a laboratory-scale screw conveyor for cold flow tests
* Selection of suitable materials and components to ensure functionality and reliability
* Construction, testing, and optimization of the conveyor as part of the test setup
* Documentation of the design steps, observations, and results for the research team
* Supporting the integration of the conveyor into the tests and the optimization of the setup
What you contribute
must have:
* Degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering, or a comparable field
* Basic knowledge of mechanical design, technical drawing, or CAD
* Practical skills and interest in the construction and assembly of test facilities
* Very good written and spoken German (B2 to C2 level) and English (B2 to C2 level)
nice to have:
* Experience with the documentation of test facilities and results
* Interest in research projects with a focus on sustainability
* Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams

Remuneration according to Research assistant pay (dependent on qualifications).
