This institute is headed by Prof. Dr. Frank Rosenbauer, is an experimentally oriented medical research institute focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cell differentiation, tumor development, and immune cell function – ideally with you on board!
A major research focus is the role of transcription factors in hematopoietic cell fate regulation and their interaction with epigenetic mechanisms. We use state-of-the-art approaches, including next-generation sequencing, functional genetic screens, and transgenic model systems. Further information is available on our homepage and via our publications in leading journals such as Nature Immunology, Nature Genetics, The EMBO Journal, Blood and others.
The PhD project will focus on the transcription factor PU.1, a key regulator of myeloid and lymphoid development. Using cutting-edge technologies, the project aims to investigate how three-dimensional changes in PU.1 chromatin architecture influence cell fate decisions and leukemia development.
Applicants should hold a master’s degree in biology or biochemistry and have hands-on experience with tissue culture and standard molecular biology techniques. Basic proficiency in the R programming language and in working with public omics repositories is required, while experience working with laboratory mice is considered an advantage. An excellent command of the English language is essential.
