We are seeking a well-rounded technologist (f/m/x) to help scale the data infrastructure The Global Database Engineering Team manages the relational database platform and develops the automation, which keeps the business systems operational.
The Database Engineer/Architect (f/m/x) will support the ongoing development and solution design of the relational database platforms and provide evaluation, certification and packaging of relational database tools as well as developing and maintaining platform automation scripts and applications.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Architect and design scalable cloud-based database platforms
2. Develop and enhance automation platforms and tooling to support database operations and reduce manual effort (“toil”)
3. Analyse incidents, identify root causes, and implement automation-driven improvements to prevent recurrence
4. Provide expert support to application teams in database product selection and performance optimization
5. Deliver L4 support for Oracle databases and Exadata Cloud environments
6. Design and maintain robust database models aligned with business requirements
7. Act as technology lead for database and cloud architecture topics
Required Skills/Experience
8. Architect and design solutions for Oracle database platforms
9. Strong expertise in Oracle DBA (CRS 11g–23ai) and Exadata infrastructure, including Exadata and Autonomous
10. Develop and maintain automation using Bash/KSH, Python, Ansible, and database scripting technologies
11. Solid knowledge of Java, Oracle APEX, and development tooling (e.g., Git, JIRA)
12. Strong understanding of cloud architecture, data center environments, networking, and capacity management
13. Knowledge of network, firewall, and enterprise storage architectures as well as ITIL framework
14. Excellent communication skills in English; German is an advantage
