About CropSentry & OakStead
* CropSentry – AI-Powered Crop Loss Alert Platform. An AI-driven solution fusing remote sensing (satellite imagery, drone data, IoT sensors) with agronomic research to deliver early crop-stress and crop-loss alerts to farmers. The platform is in the early research stage, focusing on proactive crop monitoring and farmer guidance to prevent losses before they happen.
* OakStead – Sustainable Biostimulants from Orchard Waste. An AgTech/biotech venture upcycling fruit and orchard waste into nano-scale, bioactive biostimulants that improve crop stress resilience. Now in prototype R&D phase (in partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute), OakStead is developing a patent-pending formulation to help crops withstand drought, disease, and climate stress – turning agricultural waste into an innovation for regenerative farming.
Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
* Market Development & Partnerships: Lead business development. This includes identifying early adopter farmers and agribusiness partners, and forging collaborations (e.g., pilot programs on local farms for CropSentry; partnerships with orchards or juice producers for OakStead’s raw materials).
* Go-to-Market Strategy: Craft and execute the go-to-market strategy for CropSentry’s SaaS platform – define target segments (starting with Bavaria/Germany), shape pricing models, and tailor our value proposition for farmers and agricultural stakeholders. Simultaneously, develop commercialization plans for OakStead’s biostimulant product, including market research on crop stress solutions and potential customers (e.g., vineyards, orchards, organic farmers).
* Fundraising & Growth: You will work on pitch decks and applications for startup accelerators and funding programs (e.g. Y Combinator, EIC, EIT Climate-KIC), and engage with investors who are excited about climate-tech and agri-food innovation.
* Community & Customer Engagement: Be the bridge to our end-users. Spend time with farmers and agronomists to gather feedback and ensure our solutions truly solve on-the-ground problems. Organize field trials or demos (for OakStead’s prototype) and help manage relationships with research partners like Fraunhofer or TUM. Native-level German fluency is mandatory – you’ll be interacting with local farmers, partners, and possibly public agencies in Germany (excellent English is also expected for our international engagements).
* Leadership & Collaboration: Work directly with the founder(s) on overall venture strategy and operations. Shape the business model, handle operational tasks (from legal incorporation prep to marketing outreach), and ensure both projects progress on the business front. Location: Must be based in Bavaria or Baden-Württemberg – the role involves on-site meetings at least biweekly (Neumarkt/Munich area) and occasional travel in Southern Germany to visit farms or partners. (Hybrid work arrangement with remote flexibility on other days.)
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a unique chance to co-build two impactful startups from scratch. Compensation includes equity ownership (for Co-Founder Associate) and numerous growth opportunities:
* Equity Stake: Ownership in the venture with significant equity for early team members – 3.5% for the Co-Founder Associate on a standard founder vesting schedule (4 years vesting, 1-year cliff).
* Influence & Recognition: You will be recognized as part of the early founding team. You’ll have a major influence on product vision, tech roadmap, and company strategy from Day 1. Your contributions will shape the DNA of the company.
* Innovative R&D Environment: Access to collaboration networks for R&D, experimentation, and validation. Work at the cutting edge of AgTech innovation with support from top research institutions.
* Professional Growth: Direct involvement in accelerator programs and pitch competitions. Gain experience interfacing with investors, and scaling a startup. (If you’ve dreamed of going through Y Combinator or European incubators, this is your chance to make it happen.)
* Mission-Driven Culture: We foster a mission-led, science-forward culture. Join a small but passionate team dedicated to tackling climate resilience in agriculture. We offer a queer-affirming, inclusive workplace – we celebrate diversity (LGBTQ+, BIPOC founders very welcome) and maintain a respectful environment where everyone can thrive.
* Flexibility: Hybrid work setup with a base at the Makers’ Home incubator (co-working space) in Neumarkt. Work async-friendly hours as needed – we care about results and impact, not clocking hours. We also provide a supportive community of like-minded entrepreneurs at the incubator.
Work Culture & Environment
Our ethos is collaborative, open, and impact-focused:
* Incubator Community: You’ll work at Makers’ Home, a startup hub in Neumarkt, Bavaria, alongside other impact-driven entrepreneurs. It’s a collaborative environment with co-working and mentoring support. Expect a mix of brainstorming on whiteboards, field trips to farms, and deep tech R&D discussions.
* Mission & Values: We are mission-driven – improving climate resilience in agriculture is at the core of everything we do. We value science and data (evidence-based decisions), open innovation (sharing knowledge, possibly open-sourcing parts of our platform down the line), and sustainability (both environmental and business sustainability).
* Inclusive & Diverse: Our team culture is queer-inclusive and embraces diversity in tech. We believe that a diverse founding team drives stronger innovation. We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination. Come as you are – be ready to build something great with people who value respect, learning, and empathy.
* Start-up Mentality: As an early-stage venture, every day is different. We encourage proactive problem-solving, continuous learning, and the ability to adapt. You’ll have freedom to implement ideas and the responsibility to drive results. We support radical transparency and open communication (be ready for candid discussions and shared decision-making).
