 
        
        **Job Title:** Business Data Analyst for Market Operations
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Data Analyst to join our team in Essen, München. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating access to trading markets for our regional business units, bundling associated chances and risks, and providing innovative services.
The core competencies of this role include portfolio strategies, risk management, and data processing. You will work closely with colleagues in IT to manage and take ownership of processes that create critical data for our business.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
 * Defining and implementing data validation rules, monitoring metrics, and quality checks for the processes in our responsibility
 * Maintaining and expanding the curated data layer in close collaboration with IT, ensuring consistent and accurate representation of core data entities (e.g., trades, prices, positions)
 * Collaborating with product teams and business stakeholders across teams and regions to define and evolve data models
 * Working closely with business teams owning critical reporting (e.g., departments such as Market Risk, Credit Risk, Accounting, Back Office)
 * Maintaining the quality and consistency of key business data across systems and departments
 * Performing root cause analysis of data issues and driving corrective actions across upstream systems
 * Taking Product Ownership of Data Products and contributing to data governance initiatives and documentation standards
 * Coordinating change delivery with the business departments and being responsible for the successful implementation of requirements and managing projects impacting the products and processes we own
 * Supporting end users in analyzing and understanding data
To be successful in this role, you should have:
 * A university degree and at least 3 years of professional experience in the energy or commodity trading business
 * Solid energy trading, risk management, and commodity trade life cycle knowledge is a plus; a demonstrated interest in these topics is required
 * Strong understanding of data pipelines, data validation, and data quality frameworks
 * Proficiency with SQL and experience working with relational databases
 * Experience with Python is a plus
 * A proactive delivery attitude and the ability to self-initiate changes and translate business requests into actionable plans
 * Solid IT user knowledge in this field is required
 * Experience with software such as ETRM systems, Snowflake, and Power BI is an advantage
