About the Position: You will serve as a Practical Nurse at the U.S. Army Health Clinic located in Stuttgart, Germany.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
* Obtain information from patient and/or family/guardians/caretakers to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care. Document patients' chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.
* Take all vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference, and length).
* Perform a behavioral health screening.
* Prepare procedure rooms by ensuring required equipment, consent forms, etc. are available.
* Administer oxygen, IV fluid and prescribed oral, rectal, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications.
* Screen and review immunization records IAW AR 40-562 and unit Standard Operating Procedures to select required immunizations, correct dosages, and routes of administration.
* Inform and educate patients and/or family regarding self-care procedures.
* Review expiration dates for medications, vaccines, and supplies; and initiates the reorder.

* This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records.
* This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association (AHA).
* Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
* A pre-placement medical examination is required.
* This position is identified as Mission Essential which may require you to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations (e.g., threat to the facility, natural disaster, delayed reporting).
* This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
* This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations.
* This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Shifts may be rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
* This position requires to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Practical Nurse (Family Medicine):
Basic Requirement for Practical Nurse: Licensure: A current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia; OR must have applied for a license to practice. Applications of candidates possessing a license must be accompanied by a certified or photostatic copy of the license, a notarized statement attesting to the fact, or a citation of the license number and State issuing it. Non-licensed candidates who have completed their training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during the probationary period. Those not licensed must furnish the date on which they applied for a license and the jurisdiction involved. No person appointed pending licensure may be retained beyond the probationary period if licensure has not been attained.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below:
Experience: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as: conducting intake interview of patients for initial assessment; assisting surgeons or registered nurses during medical procedures; and administering medication as directed by a physician.
