As a global TIER 1 supplier for the automotive industry, DENSO develops, produces and sells powertrain components and systems as well as innovative hardware, software and fuel solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles. DENSO’s two main pillars, “Peace of Mind” and “Green”, are the foundation of new R&D themes. One of One of the main pillars is the Thermal system where DENSO produces refrigerant as well as coolant system components & systems.
Job Description
An emerging technology that allows the most efficient control of such a system is based on Model Predictive Control. In order to have a model that represents the system behavior it is essential that this is effectively created for any system configuration and covers the control of the refrigerant and coolant system, which can be over 10 parameters to control. This leads to a complex model and a lot of data is needed to train such a model.
Purpose:
The objective of the project is to create a methodology to use the existing simulation toolchain as effective as possible to create and validate the predictive models for usage in MPC.
Project targets:
Activity #1: Requirement analysis
* Overview of existing MPC specifications (MPC I/O)
* Consider modularity of Thermal System (System I/O)
Activity #2: Model training works
* Perform the predictive Model training by using different methods
* Validate the model accuracy and document methodology
Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in an engineering study with a focus on automotive engineering (master course w/ Big Data specialization)
* Experience in using Machine Learning techniques (e.g. LSTM Neural Networks)
* Good English skills both written and spoken
* Fundamental knowledge of electric vehicles and their powertrains
* Thermal system (refrigerant) know-how
* Experience in simulation activities mandatory using MathWorks MATLAB & Simulink (model creation, calibration, validation, and data analytics)
* Good MS-Office visualization skills are required (especially Excel & PowerPoint for result visualization)
* Independent problem solving and own task management
* Creative and open-minded team-player attitude
Additional Information
* Flextime
* Diverse Team
