Procurement Category Manager - Global Procurement Transformation

I’m currently partnering with a global organisation at the forefront of the energy transition, which is undergoing a significant transformation across its international entities - starting with Procurement.
This is a newly shaped opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to lead one of the company’s key global spend areas and drive strategic initiatives that will strengthen supplier partnerships, increase efficiency, and align sourcing decisions with business growth objectives.
The organisation operates across multiple continents, with a culture defined by innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. It’s a business where procurement plays a central, strategic role - not just a transactional one.
You do not need specifically assigned Category experience; more so the evidenced soft skills and culture fit of creating change, adaptability and creating improvements on a strategic level.
🌍 The Opportunity
As Category Manager, you will take full ownership of one of the company’s strategic procurement categories.
You’ll define and implement the global category strategy, ensuring alignment with local markets while optimising total cost, supply resilience, and business agility.
This is a highly visible role, reporting directly to the Director Global Procurement & Supply Chain, and offering the scope to influence decision-making at senior level across regions.
💼 Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and execution of the global category strategy, balancing global efficiency with local market needs
* Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, ensuring strong performance, innovation, and alignment with business priorities
* Guide and support regional procurement teams on negotiation strategies and supplier engagement
* Drive cost, performance, and process optimisation through data-driven decision-making
* Oversee category performance using clear KPIs and market intelligence to identify opportunities and manage risk
* Lead annual category reviews and alignment sessions with key internal stakeholders across sales, operations, and finance
* Foster capability development and collaboration within the procurement organisation
👤 Your Profile
* 5-8+ years of experience in category management or strategic procurement, ideally with a multinational scope
* Proven success in developing and executing sourcing strategies across complex, high-value categories
* Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with a data-led approach to decision-making
* Skilled negotiator with experience managing senior-level supplier relationships
* Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional or matrix environments
* Excellent communication skills in English and German; additional languages are advantageous
