Job Description
Turner & Townsend are leaders in professional services to the Data Centre sector globally. Due to the continued success and expansion of our Data Centre business in Germany, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Construction Project Manager to join our Data Centre team in Frankfurt.
In this role, you will oversee the pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and close-out phases of a hyperscale, state of the art data center project for a global technology client onsite.

Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage all mechanical pre-construction activities, including design constructability, procurement, contracts, and budget planning
2. Act as the main point of contact for mechanical-related client concerns and communication
3. Ensure mechanical construction is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
4. Oversee installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related infrastructure
5. Align mechanical designs with overall project intent and client expectations, resolving issues during construction
6. Support design teams with constructability and localization, collaborating across disciplines
7. Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety protocols throughout all phases
8. Provide technical guidance to ensure contract documents and specifications are regionally relevant
9. Play a key role in selecting and procuring contractors and vendors
10. Supervise mechanical subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure quality and safety compliance
11. Maintain full-time on-site presence for inspections and construction supervision
12. Lead commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring operational performance and complete documentation
13. Manage final project closeout and seamless handover of mechanical systems to the client
14. Advise clients and protect their interests throughout the project lifecycle
15. Identify and mitigate risks related to mechanical systems
16. Enforce quality control and ensure adherence to local regulations
17. Approve subcontractor invoices and monitor work schedules
18. Conduct site safety audits and ensure health and safety compliance
19. Track progress against project schedule and budget, addressing delays or cost overruns
20. Manage scope changes with proper documentation and approval processes
Qualifications
21. University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Professional certifications are a plus
22. Several years of experience in mechanical project management on construction sites, which includes experience working on data center construction projects
23. Proven experience managing large, complex mechanical systems installations and commissioning processes
24. Expertise in mechanical systems commonly used in data centers, such as HVAC, cooling, fire suppression, and energy management systems
25. Experience with Owner’s Representation and working directly with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders
26. Strong understanding of mechanical design, construction methods, and systems integration.
27. Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting
28. Proficient in construction management software and tools
29. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
30. Highly organized with attention to detail and a commitment to quality
31. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
32. Ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and manage expectations effectively
33. Client-focused and proactive in identifying and resolving issues
34. Availability for on-site work
35. English and German language skills
