Title: Senior Strategic Buyer
Location: Norderstedt, Hamburg, Germany (Hybrid)
Company Overview:
I am partnering with a leading global manufacturing and specialty chemicals organisation and are looking for a Senior Strategic Buyer to join the team and support the continued growth and optimisation of their procurement function.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take ownership of raw material and material group sourcing, developing and executing structured commodity group strategies with key stakeholders
* Analyse procurement markets, price trends, and cost structures to identify opportunities and define sourcing strategies
* Identify, evaluate, and manage international suppliers, including leading price and contract negotiations to ensure stable and reliable supply
* Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, developing proactive risk management and contingency strategies
* Leverage SAP MM to optimise purchasing processes and maintain high-quality supplier master data
* Participate in occasional European travel (approx. 3 days per month)
Requirements:
* Proven experience (~5 years) in strategic procurement of direct/ raw materials materials, ideally within chemical, process, or manufacturing industries
* Strong track record in developing and implementing category/commodity strategies
* Advanced knowledge of SAP MM (ideally as a key user)
* Strong analytical skills with experience in market and cost analysis and delivering cost-saving initiatives
* Confident negotiator
* Fluent German & English
