Strategic Buyer (m/f/d)
Overview of the category “Mill Operations & Recycling Services”: This category comprises service contracts with direct and indirect relevance to steel production at the sites Bremen, Eisenhüttenstadt, and Bottrop.
* Slab processing and logistics
* Treatment of blast furnace and steelworks slag
* Relining, repair, maintenance, and demolition of refractory materials
* Management of scrap yards including scrap cutting
* Disposal of solid waste
* Operation of landfills
* Screening, crushing, and grinding of raw materials
Responsibilities:
* Execution of tenders, evaluation of offers, and conclusion of individual and framework agreements for the sites Bremen, Bottrop, and Eisenhüttenstadt
* Purchase order processing, including supplier selection, contract design, and claim management
* Preparation and conduct of purchase negotiations
* Primary contact for internal departments regarding the assigned commodity groups
* Independent identification and implementation of cost-saving opportunities, including ensuring appropriate reporting
* Review and evaluation of current procurement processes and participation in their optimization
* Participation in projects with buyers from other European sites (e.g. benchmarks, best practices)
* Development and implementation of future-oriented commodity group strategies using standardized methodologies and tools
* Key account management and supplier development
Qualifications:
* Completed apprenticeship as an industrial clerk or comparable qualification with additional training as a procurement specialist, or a completed university degree in business administration or engineering
* Knowledge of materials management and experience in procurement processes desirable
* Interest in market analyses and strong analytical thinking skills
* Technical interest and understanding of logistics processes
* Project management skills are an advantage
* Knowledge of negotiation techniques and contract law
* Very strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and negotiation competence
* Resilience, high level of independence, results- and customer-oriented working style
* Willingness to challenge the status quo and initiate positive change
* Confident use of MS Office products and solid SAP knowledge
* Fluent German and very good written and verbal English communication skills; additional languages for the European region are an advantage
* Willingness to travel
