What you can expect:
As our
Category Manager (m/f/d)
, you will be responsible for the efficient, timely, and cost-effective sourcing of PV modules and related services – a critical component of our solar projects.
In this cross-functional role, you will drive the strategic procurement of large-scale renewable energy projects, from market research and supplier development to contract negotiation and project handover.
Tasks:
* Strategic development and expansion of the "PV Modules" product group
* Development and implementation of procurement strategies with a focus on quality, cost efficiency, sustainability, and ESG requirements
* Selection, evaluation, and development of suppliers as well as building long-term partnerships
* Negotiation and conclusion of framework agreements, pricing arrangements, and project-specific contracts
* Conducting market, supplier, and competitor analyses to identify new procurement markets and innovation opportunities
* Managing the entire tender and bidding process, including preparation of RfQs, bid analysis, negotiations, and award recommendations
* Ensuring smooth order and contract management, including documentation, internal approvals, and project handovers
* Monitoring cash flow and the full lifecycle of modules, including recycling and sustainability aspects
* Close collaboration with engineering, project management, quality assurance, logistics, and other internal stakeholders
* Engaging with customers and providing training for internal stakeholders on products and strategy
Profile:
* Degree in Engineering (e.g., Civil, Industrial) or a comparable technical or management field
* 5–7 years of experience in technical or strategic procurement, ideally in renewables, EPC, or plant construction
* Technical and/or commercial expertise in PV modules
* Proven experience with Asian (especially Chinese) markets and suppliers
* Strong knowledge of tendering processes, contract negotiation, and supplier markets in energy infrastructure
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills in German (C1+) and English
* Proficiency in MS Office as well as experience with ERP systems (e.g., APplus) or other IT solutions is an advantage
* Independent, structured, and reliable working style
* Willingness to travel within Germany and the Asian region
